About ROAR! | Ellen Hope Curtis
Director Ellen Hope Curtis, a Kingston University graduate with a 2:1 degree in Dance with English Literature founded ROAR! Cheer & Dance in September 2012.
She began dancing in her hometown of Rugby and completed Advanced BTDA grades in Classical Ballet, Modern Jazz and Tap at Carrie Bianco Stage School before embarking on her undergraduate degree at Kingston University. Here she was able to diversify her performance skills by learning many new dance styles including: contemporary, street, commercial, Bharathanatyam, African and Bhangra to name a few. It was also at Kingston that her passion for cheerleading began when she joined the university cheerleading squad, competing in several competitions a year and winning many regional and national titles.
With an impressive skill set including a background of dance performance at large venues such as: Reading Festival, Twickenham Stoop Stadium and Westfield London, membership to professional London based cheerleading squad Zoo Fever and a desire to teach, ROAR! Cheer & Dance was born.
Ellen uses her passion for choreography, vast experience in competitive and professional cheerleading and many dance styles to create diverse and engaging classes that leave participants hungry to learn more. Ellen continues to train, compete and perform whenever possible to continue to improve her skills, enabling her to provide the best service to her pupils.
She believes that cheerleading and dance bring health benefits, build confidence and are most of all fun. She hopes to make these activities more accessible and inspire others by sharing her passion for them.
Ellen is a fully qualified USASF cheerleading coach, Cheerobics instructor®, CRB checked and emergency first aid trained.
